How to Find It
From Cle Elum: take I-90 Exit 93 Elk Heights Road, cross over the freeway to Thorp Prairie Road and head south (right) for 3.5 miles. Cross back over I-90 east (right) on West Taneum Road, turn right at stop sign, go over a cattle guard and head up into the canyon to just past mile post 8 where the pavement ends and road 3300 crosses over the Taneum river to the left. Just across the bridge you'll see where the ridge trail will pop you back out when you're done.
PARKING IN LOT REQUIRES NW TRAIL PASS
Typical Conditions
One of the first Taneum rides to melt out in the spring, usually ready by Memorial day. Early season and/or after a brief summer rain is probably best. Late summer after long dry spells get extremely dusty and rutted with moto use. Would avoid immediately after unusually hard rain but this would be rare and trails in the area tend to dry back out quickly. Watch for snow on the ridge tops from October on.
Local Points of Interest
For nearest food/gas afterward, simply keep heading south when exiting the canyon (go straight after the cattle guard, paralleling I-90). In a few miles you'll see the Thorp exit/onramp/overpass to the left, and on the other side of I-90 is a fruit stand and an AM/PM. Nearest bike shop would be Recycle in downtown Eburg right on main street- great peeps.

Turn by Turn
Head up FS Road 3300 for about a half mile until you see a spur road (135) heading downhill to the left. Just before the road gets back down to the river, take a bermed road to the right heading up river. You'll keep following this disintegrating road/trail for about 2.5 miles, passing a cabin along the way. From the cabin on the road will start a loose, rocky climb to join back up with road 3300. Once back out on the road head left/uphill in your granny gear... you'll be doing that for a while. At milepost 'lucky' 13 you'll have about a half mile left to the ridge top/trail junction. The junction with Taneum Ridge trail (no. 1363) is clearly signed at the top. Turn right and simply stay on the mail trail for the remainder of the ride. There are a few steep and loose up/downs along the ridge top along with spectacular views of the Stuart mountains. When the trail crosses a road, simply continue on over the road and stick with the trail on the other side (the road leading down and ahead/to the right will take you back to the campground if you need an early bail-out point). The trail gets steeper and more heavily bermed from that point on to the bottom.
