This is a ride of dirt roads to Lake Fontal and Lake Hannan and an additional trip to the 1400' peak (Mt. Stohr) to the northeast. It is about 3 miles from the north side of the Cherry Valley system and Lake Margaret. A USGS map shows a road that ties this ride to the Cherry Falls access road if you want to lengthen the ride to single track!

How to Find It

From Duvall:

  • Turn right onto Cherry Valley Road (up hill). PLEASE NOTE.... there are 2 Cherry Valley Roads - you will want to turn onto the Cherry Valley Road that is in Snohomish County, NOT the Cherry Valley right outside of Duvall. It's about 3 miles out of town
  • Soft right onto Lake Frontal Road. (as Cherry Valley meets Lake Frontal Road).
  • Left at curve as Frontal Rd turns into Kayak Lake Road. (Stay on Frontal Road).
  • County road turns to dirt. There is a gate soon. Park outside of it to be safe.

From Monroe:

  • Take Highway 203 South in Monroe, approximately 3 miles.
  • Proceed past Cadman Gravel and turn left onto High Rock Road (do not turn
    on North High Rock Road).
  • Proceed up the hill, at the top turn left onto Lake Fontal Road.
  • Veer Left at curve as Frontal Road turns into Kayak Lake Road. (Stay on Frontal Road).
  • County road turns into dirt. There is a gate soon. Park outside of it to be safe.

Typical Conditions

The roads are in good shape but do have puddles in the wet weather and also get more primative during the second half of the climb.
