01 / Regional Overview
Where we ride.
The West Sound chapter is dedicated to making the Kitsap Peninsula one of the most incredible places to ride mountain bikes — through trail advocacy, trail development, and community engagement. The peninsula's combination of old-growth forests, managed timber land, and county parks provides a diverse and ever-expanding trail network just a ferry ride from Seattle.
Signature systems include Banner Forest Heritage Park, Green Mountain, Newberry Heritage Park, and Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. The chapter also manages the Poulsbo Pump Track and is actively developing new trails at Ueland Tree Farm. West Sound operates its own website at evergreenws.org and runs a robust mix of work parties, skills clinics, and women's programming.
Kitsap's trails drain quickly — the sandy soils and managed forest land mean consistent, year-round riding conditions that are hard to match on the west side of the sound.
